Now that you can buy movies from the iTunes Store and sync them to your Apple MP3 Player, the whole world is your theater. With the new 80Gb or 160 GB models, those movies fit comfortably next to TV shows, new games, podcasts, audiobooks, photo albums, and, of course, an entire library of music--up to 40,000 songs. It plays audio for hours and hours, or if you'd rather watch, you can feast your eyes on movies and TV shows for several hours without draining your battery.
Storage issues are a thing of the past, with the whopping 80GB and 160GB storage capacity. That means more music and video absolutely anywhere you go. Additionally, with the vibrant and bright screen, the display gives your album art, photos, and video that extra pizzazz. Plus, the new interface lets you search for your music, video and photos without a hassle.
Nothing is simpler than finding music and video. Use the Click Wheel to adjust volume, navigate songs, or browse the Music menu by artists, composer, album, song, genre, or playlist. Want to be spontaneous? Just click Shuffle Songs. The iPod classic manages to make your music look as good as it sounds, thanks to its big, bright color display. Album art appears alongside your songs in the Now Playing screen, so you can see your music as you play it.
Download movies from the iTunes Store, then sync them to watch anywhere, anytime. The gorgeous 2.5-inch display makes your movies take on a brilliant quality. Thanks to improved video playback time it keeps you entertained for several hours or longer if you reduce brightness by using the new brightness control.
As for television programs, you can always find something good. Browse and purchase thousands of episodes of your favorite TV shows on the iTunes Store, then sync them. Buy last season's episodes and settle in for a pocket-size marathon. Or watch that show you missed last night. All your TV episodes display in order, so you can navigate them quickly and easily. Every episode you buy from iTunes is optimized to look great on the crystal-clear, 320 x 240-pixel display.
iPod classic holds tens of thousands of photos that you can sync from your Mac or Windows PC via iTunes. Use the Click Wheel to scroll through photo thumbnails. Just click the center button to see a photo full-screen. You can even view photo slideshows, complete with music, on your classic or on a television via the optional iPod Video/Photo AV Cable. Just select Slideshow Settings, choose the transition effect and the music, and then start the show.
With thousands of options for songs, audiobooks, and more on your device, you need an easy way to search and enjoy your collection. One of the best iPod classic features is that you have that at your fingerstips a brand-new, built-in search function that lets you use the Click Wheel to type out the name of the song, artist, album, audiobook, or podcast you're looking for, and it returns results instantly. It lets you customize menus, check capacity, change your language, change how it sounds, and more, all from the easy-to-use Setting menu. See how many songs are stored and how much room you have left. Select what items appear in your Main Menu, tweak the built-in equalizer, or set a maximum volume limit--everything you need to personalize your classic, from backlight timer to clicker sound effects, appears in Settings.
Cover Flow: If a picture says a thousand words, think of what all the album art in your collection might say. Now you can browse your music by album artwork. Using the click wheel, you can easily browse music by album cover, then select an album to flip it over and see the track list.
Split screen: The new main menu has a split screen, dividing the space equally between the menu lists on the left and visual content previews on the right. The split screen interface adds considerable benefit to the menu screen. Commands that, in the past, might of been confusing to users now have explanations on the right side of the screen to guide you through the different options and functionality.
